Evidence and reproduction
A record of the affected pages and journey, observations, available user data and repeatable test conditions. The team can distinguish an observed delay from a suspected cause.

Performance work that starts with the delay
If visitors wait for page content or controls respond late, changing a plugin without diagnosing the delay can leave the problem untouched. I review the affected journey, available user evidence and loading behavior, then help the team define a change at the appropriate layer. Implementation and validation are scoped with the people responsible for the code and infrastructure.

We begin with the pages and actions causing concern, including the device and conditions under which the delay occurs. A product page on a phone may behave differently from a cached homepage on a desktop. A test without those conditions cannot explain which visitors are affected.
Available field data shows observations from users, while a controlled test helps investigate what happens during a particular load. They are different evidence sources. Google's LCP optimization guidance explains that lab tests may not represent actual user experience and distinguishes page-level data from data for the whole origin.
When the available sample is limited, that limitation stays beside the finding. A sitewide aggregate does not become a measurement of every page, and the absence of sufficient field data does not prove that a page is fast or slow.
Choose representative pages and interactions. Record device conditions, available field evidence and the business action that the performance review should support.
Investigate the loading or interaction sequence. Identify whether the relevant delay begins with the response, resource discovery, download, rendering or another observed dependency.
Document the proposed intervention, technical owner, dependencies and acceptance check. Test in the appropriate environment, with the page's content and required functionality preserved.
Check the published release using the agreed conditions. Preserve the date and method, then observe field data when available rather than equating one lab run with all visitors.
These are investigation paths, not a diagnosis of your site. The evidence determines which layers need attention.
| Observed area | Question for the investigation |
|---|---|
| Initial response | Is the delay associated with the server response, caching or an upstream dependency? |
| Important resource discovery | Does the browser discover the main content resource early enough in the loading sequence? |
| Rendering and scripts | Has the needed resource arrived while styles, scripts or other work still delay display? |
| Interactions and layout | Which action responds late, or which content changes position while the visitor is using it? |
Core Web Vitals address loading, responsiveness and visual stability through LCP, INP and CLS. The review uses the measures relevant to the affected journey and records the tools and conditions. It does not replace that work with a promise of a perfect tool score.
For loading, a smaller image may help only part of the sequence. If the resource is discovered late or cannot render after download, file size alone does not resolve the delay. The LCP breakdown provides a useful way to separate those stages before recommending a change.
Your team remains responsible for approving code, infrastructure and commercial functionality. Removing a necessary feature simply to improve a score is a business decision, not an automatic optimization. The scope identifies what can be changed and who can safely publish it.

Recommendations tied to the relevant template, resource or system, with an implementation owner and acceptance criteria. Work that needs additional access or a different specialist remains identified.
A comparison of the public result with the specification, plus the measurement limits. Subsequent conversion or search changes are evaluated separately and are not automatically credited to the performance edit.
My technical SEO advisory work focuses on converting evidence into requirements that engineering and marketing can discuss. For performance, that means helping the team select the intervention and validation that fit the page, platform and delivery capacity.
Hands-on development can remain with your team or form an agreed Growing Search scope. If the main problem is missing content or a page's search purpose, on-page SEO may be more useful. A performance investigation does not replace an indexing or sitewide diagnosis.
No. The engagement defines evidence, recommendations and validation criteria. Tool results vary with conditions and do not control search-engine selection or positions. The useful commitment is a reproducible investigation and a properly checked change.
Development responsibilities are agreed after the affected systems and access are understood. The work may focus on diagnosis, requirements or implementation support. It does not assume permission to alter a theme, application, server or deployment process.
That is a requirement to discuss before changing anything. The review identifies the cost of particular resources and behaviors, then compares feasible options. A visual or functional compromise needs the owner's approval rather than being hidden inside a performance task.
Coordinate technical decisions and implementation criteria.
Improve content and template output.
Account for theme and application constraints.
Share example URLs, affected devices and any existing measurements. We can establish whether the next step is a focused performance investigation, implementation support or another technical scope.
